I just saw the film again after forty years and loved it just as much. The opening scene was a guide for me as a child, to dream of what I wanted to create.

I remember playing Julie Andrews in the front school yard in Los Angeles. I thought to myself: "When I am older, I will have friends all around the world and go visit them. I have a special role in life and I will find it. That is one of the aims in life".

Today, I live in Israel, very active in peace work, and am a composer of medically researched healing music that lowers blood pressure, heart rate, increases focus and quality of sleep.

The Sound of Music had a literal and figuratively positive affect upon my life.

Thank you Ageless Dreamer for your kind words. We are working hard and appreciate your recognition for our efforts. We hope that The Arts Festival in Dover, NH, this Sat. will help jump start us. My father had a great philosophy that I've always tried to live by: "If you can think it, you can do it." Going to the moon was my first realization of just how true this is. So, Ageless Dreamer, let's keep the dream alive.

Just FYI, this is actually a poem called "Too Old Too Fast" by Dave Griffith of Fort Worth, Texas, an author of more than 500 poems. He wrote it over 20 years ago. Someone took the poem and created the Internet crabby old man "fable" about it. Nevertheless, the moral of the poem stands. . .

Crusade and a Challenge
Laurie, As you well know my mother was your first recipient when you fulfilled her dream of having a ride on a Harley for her 100th birthday. Needless to say not only am i one of your biggest fans but a crusader. So I am trying to find ways to raise money to enable you to keep making dreams come true.i have written to GMA, 20/20, as well as individuals and corporations. my challenge is to everyone who reads this to step forward and do the same. Who knows what might develop. let's not let the dream die for our older generation...someday we will be there.

Laurie, what you have done with Ageless Dreamers so far is remarkable! I would hate to see your dream---and thus the dreams of many of our elders---go unfulfilled. I can testify to the wonderful impact that your efforts on behalf of my mother, an 87 year old novelist, have had on her. Knowing that Ageless Dreamers was supporting her dream has buoyed her spirits and renergized her in her quest to find a publisher. The personal letter and authorized copy of The DaVinci Code from Dan Brown, encouraging her not to give up, as well as her participation in your interview with WAMD, have given her hope that she will find the right agent or publisher for her novel. You have been consistently proactive on her behalf and personally committed to helping her realize her dream.

I know Mom is just one of the many people you have helped through Ageless Dreamers. To see beyond their physical infirmities and to connect to their spirits is a wonderful---and rare---gift. Thank you for all you have done and I hope you will find inspiration and strength in knowing how much good you have done!

We're never too old to dream. I reminded myself of that as we mailed out the Ageless Dreamer annual appeal requests yesterday. We like to think we can make a difference raising the level of awareness for the wisdom, talents, and sage advise from our oldest generation. We remind Caregivers and adult children caring for their elders, remember to ask: Do you have a dream?

On Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, our most recient recipient, John H., of Bedford, NH had his dream come true. You can read all about it on our website, under Dreamers, but at almost age 102, (Jan 1, 2009)
John proved that dreaming is ageless.

One day at a time, one dream at a time.

Ah, yes, the outhouse. Out back, in the dark, with whatever else lived back there, mattered not if it was very cold or very hot. If you had to go, you had to go. Interesting, but I don't think I ever heard of one being handicap accessible. Guess you just managed somehow. Or else that's where those white enamel, kidney shaped pots came in handy. I count my blessings.
